FAQ

Here are a few of the questions that we are often asked about cleaning, if you have any other queries or concerns, please use our Contact form or give us a call.

Q. How often should I have my carpets cleaned?
A. Most manufacturers recommend that carpets are professionally cleaned by a qualified technician every 12 months. Carpets should be cleaned on a regular basis and before they become too dirty to ensure they stay soft, fresh and clean. Allowing a build-up of dirt will significantly reduce the life of your carpet.

Q. I could try and clean my carpets and upholstery myself, is this recommended?
A. It is highly recommended that you get a professional and qualified carpet and upholstery cleaner. There are many cleaning products advertised to the general public as being suitable for cleaning and removing stains from carpets and upholstery. Unfortunately, along with these products comes the potential of causing substantial and irreversible damage. As a member of the National Carpet Cleaning Association (NCCA) we have the correct training, skill and knowledge with access to the most appropriate professional cleaning products, to ensure that a correct and safe job is carried out and the best possible results are achieved for you.

Q. What are the benefits of using an NCCA and/or TACCA Member?
A. Please see Accreditation for an overview and follow the links to these organisations' websites for more information.

Q. How much do you charge?
A. The price quoted is dependant on a number of things, such as:
The size of room, the condition of the items in question and what equipment and chemicals are required.  Given all that we need to consider, we are not able to price over the phone. An on-site visit, a survey is undertaken  so we can get an idea of your requirements. Once the survey is done you will be provided with a hand written quote showing a fixed price for the job. Remember that this is a no-obligation part of our service, however, if you’d like to go ahead and book the clean we can take a booking at this time.

Q. I have had my carpets cleaned before, they got dirty very quickly!
A. The most common reason for this is because the last time you had your carpets cleaned, this was not done properly. The last cleaner who did not thoroughly vacuum  the material to be cleaned. Dirt not removed properly will turn to mud if not removed beforehand. This then sinks into the bottom of the carpet and remains there! After the previous carpet and upholstery cleaner has left with your money, this dirt will generally wick back up to the surface of the carpet and remain there as if nothing had been done. The 10 part system that we use and the chemicals used are manufactured to the highest specifications for quality and effectiveness. We will only use chemicals and equipment designed specifically for cleaning carpets and upholstery.

Q. Do you use chemicals to clean?
A. Great cleaning results can only be had through the use of top grade chemical solutions which break down ingrained dirt. Dri Wash Carpet Cleaning  have a number of specialist chemical solutions, due to the type of the soiling to ensure the best results are obtained for you. These chemicals may include solvents, powders and other solutions which have been created to the highest specs to give you the best quality and safety available in the industry today. If you are sensitive or have asthma, please advise us of your situation beforehand. We always use environmentally friendly ‘Green’ cleaning products.

Q. I have children and pets; will they be affected by your company’s chemicals?
A. Health and safety is paramount to Dri Wash Carpet Cleaning; it is always in our thoughts and we take our legal obligations towards our customers, children and pets very seriously indeed. All of the chemicals used in our cleaning processes have been thoroughly tested to ensure minimal, if any, impact on the environment and its occupants. Dri Wash Carpet Cleaning always follow stringent Health & Safety procedures while in the customer’s home or place of work.  It is an idea to ensure that everyone, including pets stay off the areas cleaned until completely dry. As well as possibly causing re-soiling it minimises the possibility of slips and falls.

Q. How long will the cleaned items take to dry?
A. Drying time depends on a number of conditions such as how dirty the item is, how much water was required to clean the item, the weather conditions and the internal atmosphere. Most of the time, carpets and upholstery are dry within a 2-4 hours. Where a lot of water has been used we are able to speed up the drying process by using dryers.

Q. What about shrinkage?
A. Where the correct cleaning methods are used, there is very little to no risk of shrinkage happening. Due to a very careful inspection when visiting you to survey your items to be cleaned this should not occur.

Q. Can you guarantee that all the stains will come out?
A. No-one can guarantee that a stain will be totally removed, if a company makes this claim you should heed the warning signs and look elsewhere. Some stains are permanent and the carpet fibres and no amount of specialist cleaning will resolve this. At Dri Wash Carpet Cleaning we practise advanced stain removal techniques so, if it is possible to remove a stain from a fabric or fibre, without causing further damage we will attempt to do so.

Q. My carpet has been stain protected, will the clean affect this?
A. We look at a number of factors such as age and how the it has been looked after and generally this means that existing stain protection will usually have worn away in the most heavily used areas on your carpet or upholstery. Carpet protectors work by guarding each individual carpet’s fibre, they: keep the carpet looking good because protector quickly soaks up any spillage and helps to prevent further damage, you are effectively walking on the protector and not the carpet. We advise that following a clean a protector should always be re-applied to ensure continued protection.

Q. Do I have to move furniture or do anything else before you clean?
A. We move most furniture such as Beds, Sofas and Dining tables but we will not move items such as breakables, electronic items i.e. TVs, Stereo equipment or any item of furniture that may break or cause us to break something else if moved. Furniture that has not been completely emptied of contents will not be moved.
